One of the central themes of our community policing strategy is the Neighborhood Beat Team philosophy. Beat Team officers work in the same neighborhood on a regular basis in an effort to become a part of the life of the community. We hope that you will learn who your neighborhood Beat Team officers are and get to know them.

Call signs are the radio identifiers for police units. The letter at the beginning of the call sign indicates the district. 'J', or 'Jake' as it is pronounced, is the designation for district 13.

A call sign beginning with the number 4 indicates a Service Unit, a one man cruiser. A call sign starting with 1 is a two man rapid response unit. 6 call signs are walking beats and 2 call signs are for wagons.

Sergeants call signs begin with 9, Detectives with 8.
