District 13
Community Service Office

Officer Carlos Lara
Community Service Officer
Editor

It gives me great pleasure to be able to address the community through our web page.  Our goal is to enhance Police/Community relations   throughout the historic neighborhoods of Jamaica Plain and Roxbury.  District 13 has been in the forefront of Community Policing since its re-opening in October
of 1996. Ever since, the community and the police have formed a partnership to address crime and other concerns that affect the daily life of the residents in our neighborhoods.

I want to thank our partners and everyone else who through direct or indirect participation have aided us to build a better Police Department.  I also want to acknowledge all those agencies that have collaborated with us in partnership to include the Mass State Police, the MBTA Police, the School Police, the Municipal and Housing Police, the Probation Department of the Suffolk County Juvenile Court, Urban Edge, the Jamaica Plain NDC, the YMCA, and all participating Crime Watches.

The Community Service Office in District 13 has been assigned the task of Liaison between the Police Force and the citizens of Jamaica Plain and Roxbury.  I take pride in all personnel, both sworn and civilian, which serve these communities and assist the residents to improve the quality of life.  I also take great pride in our individual Community Liaisons, who day in and day out remain vigilant and attentive of all dealings in our neighborhoods.

I want to acknowledge Mr. Michael Reiskind, Mr. Ed Crotty, Ms. Margaret Noce, Mr. Tony Barros, Dr Estelle Clasing, and Mr. Luis Prado.  All these individuals deserve our gratitude for their commendable service to our communities.

There are many other stakeholders I want to thank: the Residents, the Merchants, the Community Centers, the Youth Organizations, the State and Local Government Agencies, and everyone else who has embraced our neighborhoods to establish his/her residence or place of business.

On behalf of all personnel in District 13, I want to extend our most sincere appreciation to you.  I also want to assure you that we will continue to work together in partnership to make our neighborhoods, "The Best Places to Live."
