Prospecting is an often neglected but very effective marketing tool which if used properly can bring in a lot of results. Make sure to learn the art of prospecting to be able to establish and grow a successful business and include prospecting as one of the top most activities of your business boot camp marketing.

Prospecting is the technique to meet new people and exchange contacts for a later approach for business prospects. When you are out of your house, you are always surrounded by people, now especially if you are a fitness trainer everyone out there is your prospect, isn’t it? Whether a man or a woman, young or old, everyone wants to be fit and healthy today. Over the last two decades, people have become more health conscious than ever.

Always be ready with your business card when you are out of the house. Make sure to have your website and social media information mentioned on your business card. Set goals as to how many people you will exchange cards with. If you fail to achieve the goal, reset the goal until you finally get it.

Once you have achieved the set goal and maintain it for a few weeks, it will become your second nature and you will not have to consciously prospect people, in fact you will be so good at it you will become a magnet attracting the right people and creating more business than ever. It’s just the matter of the first few weeks until prospecting becomes your habit.

Always be prepared with an opening line, prepare a few and practice them, apply them and choose the one with the best results. If you are anyways good with talking to strangers, it will be easier for you, but for people who think they are a little introvert, you can just start by exchanging your phone numbers, no business talks when you first meet a prospect, just a little chit chat and then exchange numbers. Gradually when you gain confidence, you can have a few one liners about what you do added to the conversation in between and take a possible appointment with the exchanging of the cards.
